UKROP’S TO CLOSE BUFORD/60 WEST STORE
RICHMOND, Va.– March 27, 2006 – Ukrop’s Super Markets, Inc. today announced it would close its store at 7803 Midlothian Turnpike in June.
“Ukrop’s remains committed to serving its valued customers along the Midlothian Turnpike corridor,” said Bobby Ukrop, President and CEO. “Our customers continue to request increased product offerings and services at this location to better match the level of variety and selection available at other Ukrop’s locations. We recently remodeled this store, but are still not able to meet all of our customers’ needs due to the store size and infrastructure limitations.”
Ukrop’s recently opened a large format store at the new Stratford Hills Shopping Center on Forest Hill Avenue. The new store is approximately five minutes away from the Buford/60 West store. In addition, the Ukrop’s at Chesterfield Towne Center is wrapping up an extensive remodel that will add to the customer shopping experience. Including Stratford Hills and Chesterfield Towne Center, Ukrop’s has five stores within a six-mile drive.
“We are very thankful to our loyal Buford/60 West customers, many of whom have shopped at the store since it opened in 1971,” Ukrop added. “We will do our best to meet their needs at our other nearby locations.”
Ukrop's notified frequent Buford/60 West shoppers of the transition via personal letters last week. Special in-store signage will remind all customers of the four neighboring Ukrop's stores less than six miles away. These locations include:

Additionally, the Ukrop’s Pharmacy at Buford/60 West will close in June. All customers may request that their prescriptions be transferred to a specific pharmacy prior to the store’s closing. All prescriptions that have not been transferred at that time will be moved to the Ukrop’s Pharmacy at Stratford Hills.
All associates at Buford/60 West have been offered an opportunity to work at another Ukrop’s location.
Over the next 18 months, Ukrop’s will open three new stores: a second store in Williamsburg, its first store in Roanoke, and Twin Hickory in western Henrico.
