UKROP’S EXPANDS FUEL SAVINGS PROGRAM TO FREDERICKSBURG
Innovative fuelperks! program to reward Fredericksburg customers with significant gas discounts based on Ukrop’s purchases.
RICHMOND, Va. - Nov. 7, 2008 - Gas savings are on the way for Fredericksburg-area customers of Ukrop’s Super Markets Inc. as the company rolls out its popular fuelperks! loyalty program in Fredericksburg.
Fredericksburg customers shopping with a Ukrop’s Valued Customer® card (UVC) will earn fuelperks! savings of 10 cents per gallon of fuel for every $50 of groceries they buy at the Fredericksburg Ukrop’s Salem Church location at 4250 Plank Road.
New fuelperks! program makes grocery and gas savings easy
The loyalty program – called fuelperks!® – rewards customers with savings of 10 cents per gallon of fuel for every $50 of groceries purchased at the Ukrop’s in Fredericksburg. Fredericksburg customers also can earn fuelperks! at any Richmond-region Ukrop’s location or Joe’s Market.
The fuelperks! discounts, which can add up over multiple grocery purchases, are for up to 20 gallons of fuel per transaction. For example:
- A customer spending $100 at Ukrop’s will earn a discount of 20 cents per gallon.
- A customer spending $250 at Ukrop’s will earn a discount of 50 cents per gallon.
- A customer spending $500 at Ukrop’s will earn a discount of $1 per gallon.
The fuelperks! discount is valid for one use, up to 20 gallons. After customers redeem their rewards, they start earning a new discount based on their qualifying grocery purchases. Where to redeem fuelperks! in Fredericksburg
Customers can redeem their fuelperks! at the Uppy’s BP gas station at 5151 Plank Road in Fredericksburg, which is one mile from the Salem Church Ukrop’s.
Fredericksburg Ukrop’s customers also can redeem their fuelperks! at 29 Richmond-area participating fuelperks! gas stations run by Ukrop’s fuel partner, Uppy’s Convenience Stores, Inc.

How popular is fuelperks!
- Using fuelperks!, the average Ukrop’s Valued Customer® cardholder is saving an average of 62 cents per gallon of gas or about $8.58 per fill up at one of the 29 participating fuelperks! gas stations throughout Richmond.
- Between June 30 and Nov. 5, Richmonders have purchased 5,071,621 gallons of discounted fuel for $3.13 million in savings through 365,000 individual fuelperks! transactions. This equates 570 gasoline tankers.
How fuelperks! works:
- On Monday, Nov. 3, Fredericksburg customers began earning fuelperks! on almost all Ukrop’s grocery purchases. Certain non-discountable items, like gift card purchases, are not currently included in the program. A complete list of excluded items is at www.ukrops.com/fuelperks.
- Customers do not need to spend $50 in one visit. Ukrop’s will automatically track eligible spending of households using UVC loyalty card.
- The fuelperks! rewards expire three months after a customer earns them.
- Customers must use a wallet-sized UVC card with a magnetic stripe to redeem fuelperks!.
- Customers who use a keytag UVC card or a First Market Bank Market Share Check Card will need to receive a new wallet-sized UVC card to redeem their fuelperks!.
Customers can save 10 cents per gallon by updating their UVC information
Between Nov. 3 and Nov. 22, Fredericksburg customers can earn 10 cents off a gallon of gas through fuelperks! by updating their household information and their e-mail address. During this time, Ukrop’s associates will help customers at a fuelperks! information table inside the Salem Church store to update UVC information. As a reminder, customers do not have to register or apply to start earning fuelperks!.
How to redeem fuelperks! rewards for gas discounts
- At a participating gas station, if prompted, press “yes” when asked for a UVC card.
- Insert the wallet-sized UVC card.
- The fuelperks! discount appears on the display.
- Insert a credit or debit card at the pump or pay cash inside.
- Watch the prices drop.
- Select fuel grade.
- Start pumping – for less.
For example, if unleaded regular is $2 per gallon, and a customer has earned a discount of 70 cents per gallon, then the fuel price per gallon will be $1.30 per gallon for up to 20 gallons. Only one vehicle can be filled per discounted transaction.
